Privacy policy

RandScout needs only your quiz answers and, to send you your offers, your email address. This page says exactly what we keep and for how long.

Who is responsible

SIA diamind (registration 40203096001 (Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia)) operates RandScout and is the responsible party for the personal information described here, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act.

Address: Latgales iela 409-91, Riga, LV-1063, Latvia

What we collect

Your quiz answers. How much you want to borrow, your employment and income band, how long you have had that income, your bank, your age band, whether you have a South African ID, your province, whether you are under debt review or have missed repayments, and which of the providers we list you have already signed up with — so we do not send you to them again. These are bands and categories, not exact figures.

What we never ask for. Your name, your ID number, your bank account details, your address or your phone number. The provider you choose will ask for those on its own site, under its own privacy policy.

Where you came from. The page you landed on, the site that referred you, and the campaign parameters in the address, including advertising click identifiers from Google and Meta. This is how a provider knows which advertisement to credit.

Your IP address and browser user agent. Kept to report results to the advertising platforms and to check that offer links open properly from apps such as Facebook, unless you pressed Reject all — then we do not store them at all.

What happens on the offers page. Which offers were on your screen, how far down the page you scrolled and how long it was open, to improve the page. This stays with RandScout and is deleted with the rest of your visit.

Your cookie choice. We keep a record of what you chose and when, so that we can show we acted on it.

Your email address, only if you give it. See Email below.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We hold your quiz answers because you asked us to find offers, and we cannot do that without them. We tell Meta whether a visit from its advertisement reached a provider on the basis of our legitimate interest in paying only for advertising that works; you can object at any time with Reject all or the Cookie choices link in the footer, and we then stop. Cookies for measurement and personalised ads, and reports to Google, rely on your consent, which you can withdraw the same way.

How we use your answers to order offers

Your answers decide which providers we leave out, because each provider has its own rules about who it will consider. We also sort them into one of four broad groups, using your income, how it is paid, the kind of work you do, whether you have a bank account, whether you are under debt review or have missed repayments, and how the amount you want compares with your income — never your age or your province. We keep the group with the record of offers shown, for the same period, and use it to learn which offers suit which groups and to put first the providers more likely to consider you.

The group is not a credit score. It is not shared with providers, their networks or advertising platforms, and it does not decide whether you get a loan: the provider decides that, on its own checks, after you apply on its site. You can ask us to stop using your answers this way; see Your rights below.

How long we keep it

  • Quiz answers, the session around them and the record of offers shown: 12 months, after which they are deleted.
  • IP address and browser user agent: 30 days, after which they are erased from the records that remain.

These are not aspirations. A job runs every night and removes what is past those dates.

Email

When the quiz finds offers for you, we ask for your email address before showing them, so that we can send you those offers. You can also send them to another address from the offers page. For that we keep your email address, the session it came from and a record of each email we sent and whether it was delivered. We check that the address can receive email (its domain accepts mail and it is not a throwaway address); below the button we say that we will also send you offer updates, with a box to say no.

Unless you tick the box “Don’t email me new offers”, we also email you loan offers that match the answers you gave, and tips on borrowing safely, up to twice a week (until 28 October 2026: at most once every two weeks), about the same service you used: comparing loan offers. If you tick it, we send only the email with your offers. If you unsubscribed before, asking for your offers again does not sign you up again. We keep a record of what you saw and chose: the wording, the time, and the IP address and browser you used. The email with your offers, and every update email, has a one-click unsubscribe link; unsubscribing never stops an email you ask for yourself.

We do not track whether you open our emails. Opening an offer from an email is recorded the same way as opening it on this site, so that the provider can credit the referral. The links in our emails carry a random code that identifies only that email, so that we can tell which emails are useful to people; it does not contain your address or anything else about you. We never give your address to a provider or an advertising platform.

If you are under debt review, we show no loan offers. You can instead ask us for a guide to getting your clearance certificate, and tell us, if you want, where you are in the process. We keep that answer with your address and delete it with it. When an email of ours asks whether you have your certificate and you confirm it, we start a new search with your earlier answers and “not under debt review”, so you can compare loans without filling in the quiz again; the earlier answers stay as they were.

  • An address without confirmed updates: 30 days after your last request, then deleted.
  • An address with updates: for as long as you stay subscribed. Updates rely on your latest quiz answers, so they stop by themselves when those are deleted after 12 months.
  • After you unsubscribe: 12 months, so that we can show we stopped, then deleted.
  • Delivery reports from our email provider: 12 months, stored without your full address.

Who it goes to

The provider you choose. When you open an offer we pass a click identifier to the provider or its affiliate network. We do not pass your answers. Anything the provider asks for after that is between you and them.

Meta, unless you rejected it, and Google, only if you consented. We tell them that a visit from their advertisement reached a provider, and that it finished the questions and was shown offers, along with the advertising identifier they gave us, a hashed form of your session identifier, your IP address and your user agent. With the second we send one number: our estimate of what such a visit earns us, worked out from answers such as your income, the kind of work you do and your age group. We never send them your answers.

Twilio SendGrid, if you give us your email address. It sends our emails for us and may use your address only to do that. SendGrid is run by Twilio Inc. in the United States, so your address is processed outside South Africa under Twilio’s data processing terms.

Cloudflare, which runs our network and protects the email form from automated abuse (Turnstile). It sees your IP address and technical details of your browser to tell people from robots; it never sees your answers.

Nobody else. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Google accounts

RandScout does not offer sign-in with Google and never asks for access to your Google Account. We do not receive, store or share any data from it, such as your name, email address, contacts, files or calendar.

We use Google services only as tools for running this site: Google Analytics and Google Ads measure visits as described above and only within the choices you make on the cookie banner, and we read our own reports in Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Google Ads. None of these gives us access to a visitor’s Google Account.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it;
  • stop using it for a particular purpose.

If you gave us your email address, write to us from that address and we will act on it directly.

Because we hold no name and no identity number, we usually cannot find your record from your name alone. If you want us to act on a specific session, keep the address of the offers page you were shown, or write to us from the device you used and we will explain what we can do.

If you are not satisfied with how we handled a request, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Children

Credit may not be granted to anyone under 18 in South Africa, and this site is not intended for them. If the quiz tells us you are under 18, it stops there and nothing is sent to any provider.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how long we keep it, we will change this page and the date at the top of it.

When you come from an advert, we tell that platform whether your visit reached a provider. Cookies for measurement and personalised ads are used only if you accept. “Reject all” stops both. Details
